Cub Scout Camping

Family Adventure Camp

I’m really happy with my decision to attend camp this year. The staff make up so much of the experience and they did awesome.

Come to Ma-Ka-Ja-Wan Scout Reservation with your Cub Scout(s) and bring the whole family along, too! Watch them experience a preview of the Scouts BSA program while enjoying quality time in the outdoors together. If your child will be a Wolf, Bear, Webelo, or Arrow of Light Scout in the Fall, they can come to Family Adventure Camp!

This 4-Day, 3-Night experience allows your Cub Scout to gain a sense of independence and have unplugged off-screen fun, all while earning advancement and learning new skills. Campers can go swimming and boating at the waterfront, hiking around the camp, and work on their Scouting skills at a variety of different program areas.

Camp was so beneficial for my Scout. They learned a ton, hiked all over the place, ate lots of good food (which is amazing since they are a picky picky eater), and brought home a reinvigorated sense of self. They told me they weren’t ready to leave as we departed because ‘this is the best thing I’ve ever done!’ Bravo Ma-Ka-Ja-Wan!

Families interested should fill out the 2025 NEIC Camps Scholarship Application soon, while funds last. Scout leaders and Camp Coordinators are encouraged to share this link with all families, even those who haven’t signed up for camp or asked about help yet.

activities

Well done switching to the new program. The Scouts probably didn’t notice a change (which is great, because they’re having fun either way), but I sure appreciate it as a leader.

Important Information

Family Adventure Camp is held in Ma-Ka-Ja-Wan’s East Camp, exclusively for Cub Scouts and their families. If other Pack members attend, we’ll place you near each other. Each campsite has pre-set platform tents with 2 cots, and you can bring your own tent if you want. Meals are served in the East Camp Dining Hall, with fun activities during mealtime led by our camp staff (you’re going to love it!).

Adult Supervision Requirements: To ensure our Scouts are safe, we adhere to Youth Protection requirements for Cub Scouts.

  • Your family is welcome to attend, even if your Den or Pack is not able to join.

  • Families and Packs will be assigned campsites to ensure that each site will have at least two adults.

    • If camping as a Pack, each Pack must have 2 adults minimum.

    • Any Pack with girls must have at least one female adult present (of the 2 minimum) to follow Youth Protection Guidelines.

  • Cub Scout Programs – Overnight Exception: Cub Scout parents or legal guardians taking part in an overnight Cub Scout program with their own child or legal ward are not required to register as leaders. All adults must review the “How to Protect your Children from Child Abuse: A Parent’s Guide” that can be found in the front of each Cub Scout Handbook. In addition, the parent or legal guardian must be accompanied by a registered leader at any time they are with youth members other than their own child/ward. All other overnight adults must be currently registered in an adult fee required position.

[The Staff] were an awesome and awesomely diverse group of people that cared well for our scouts.
