Hiking Trails

Ma-Ka-Ja-Wan Scout Reservation has an extensive trail system that can take you all over camp’s 1600 acres.  It offers a variety of options and locations from the popular Killian Trail, taking you around the beautiful spring fed lake, to the Boundary Trail which runs more than 16 miles all around the property.

A total of 7 hiking trails have been developed.  All of the trails are clearly marked and easy to follow. They are:

  1. Boundary Trail – 17 miles

  2. Horseshoe Lake Trail – 1.5 miles

  3. Killian Trail – 3.2 miles

  4. Lost Lake Trail – 4 miles

  5. Muskrat Lake Trail – 1.7 miles

  6. Northwoods Trail – 0.75 miles

  7. Twin Lake Trail – 2 miles

Upon successful completion of the trail, the hiker may purchase specially designed patches for each trail at the Trading Post.  See your Camp Commissioner for material related to the hiking trails.

Throughout the week the staff will provided guided hikes that anyone is welcome to join.  The Trailblazer staff offers a 5 mile hike for the first class requirement. The Eco-Con staff offers a night hike to the bog.  And the Scoutcraft staff will take adventurous scouts and leaders on the boundary trail.
