For a full breakdown of Ma-Ka-Ja-Wan’s Program Schedule, click here to go to the full schedules page. The Schedules page includes helpful tools and the complete set of information for this year’s program schedules.

IMPORTANT: Some Scouts may have partially completed merit badges, so please make sure they bring a blue card with them to the program area so they can continue where they left off unless they want to start over. The merit badge counselor will update their class sheets accordingly.

Registering for Merit Badges

Each unit’s camp coordinator will be notified when merit badge sign-up opens online. Parents should contact their unit’s camp coordinator for assistance in signing up for merit badges.

Even though merit badge sign-up is open until the Thursday before each week of camp, we cannot guarantee availability for any of them at that late date, so the sooner you select a Scout’s merit badge classes online, the better. All deadlines are 11:59 PM on the date indicated.

AVAILABILITY

Not every badge can be completed at camp. While we strive to offer a diverse array of badges, requirements change periodically, and some require resources that are not available at MSR due to location, time limitations, or the need for specialized personnel or equipment. The availability of badges may vary from year to year.

PREPARATION

Each Scout should consult with their Scoutmaster to determine which merit badges they would like to work on at camp. Click here to see the national BSA merit badge database, which includes requirements for each badge.

Some merit badges have specific prerequisites that must be completed before camp begins; it is the Scout’s responsibility to make sure these are finished prior to arrival. Scouts should bring a signed note from their home Merit Badge Counselor(s) or Scoutmaster listing work completed.

NOTE: Many merit badges now have a First Aid/CPR requirement. Scouts should complete such requirements before camp; if they cannot, a general First Aid/CPR session is usually held in both East and West Camp.

RECORD KEEPING

It is strongly recommended that your unit verifies the accuracy of each Scout’s advancement records before coming to camp. We encourage all units to use Scoutbook for this purpose.

Scouts are strongly encouraged to take responsibility for their own records, making sure their record sheets in each Program Area are accurate and signed by the counselor each day. We also suggest each Unit assign an adult leader to review these records each week at camp before leaving to ensure the information is accurate and that the appropriate signatures have been received.

Our Camp Staff logs in the requirements completed within the registration system. Your Troop’s Registration Contact has access to your Merit Badge Reports through the registration they completed. It is their responsibility to forward Merit Badge Reports to your Advancement Coordinator so they can update each Scout’s official merit badge records in Scoutbook or your chosen tracking system. Our camp database does not automatically transfer information to any council’s advancement records. Parents: For a copy of your Scout’s records, please contact your Unit’s Advancement Coordinator or Registration Contact.

NOTE: The person who completes the online registration for your troop (the Registration Contact) can go to the Reports section of that registration for these reports: Class Schedule, Period Summary, Class Summary, Blue Cards, Scoutbook Export (A CSV file), Troopmaster Export, and more!
